Morgan #4 is one in a series of large oil portraits from 2017 and 2018. I used different size drywall knives to scrape through the wet paint in a slow process of building up and tearing down. Think of relationships you have had were you went through a series of conflicts that brought you both into a deeper abiding love. That is what life is like and that is were these paintings come from.
I always use the best quality oil paints I can get ahold of. This series was done on heavy cotton duct canvas stretched over our costume built poplar stretcher frames.
