This past summer of 2018 I spent three full months living and painting in Bavaria Germany. I spent the lion share of my time in the beautiful little medieval city of Landshut (pronounced like laan-suit). There is a swift river that makes its way through the city which is decked out with all sorts of waterfowl and fish. Towards the end of my stay I found my self coming back again and again to this one particular view. While I was painting this particular piece I was getting close to finishing up as the sun was beginning to set. There was a moment when the bells from St Martin’s great tower were sounding off which became a sonic layer over the sounds of an accordion that was drifting down the river from a nearby outdoor cafe. It was times like this when the beauty of southern Germany reached mystic levels I really began to wonder how I would ever be able to leave for home.
