Our days are filled with distractions. We set out to finish reading that final chapter in the book and one of our kids comes in and needs help with something. Some enticing title in the margin of the web page takes us down a internet rabbit hole. We are on our way to finish the dishes and plop down on the couch with a magazine instead.
Some times these detours take us into new discoveries. Sometimes our interruptions are a much needed detour in our routines, that bump in the road that stirs up our thinking and takes us off automatic pilot and back into conscious living.
Having the wisdom to know when to keep your focus and just plow on while the house burns down around me or when to set down what I am doing and listen to a child's observation is the wisdom I seek today.
