This is a photo of the band Care throwing down at the Sass Fest last Saturday here in Grand Rapids Michigan. This band may be at the front end of it's development but shows a lot of promise. Listen to the their two tracks at care.bandcamp.com and tell me you don't here some Arcade Fire passion in the vocal delivery. I really liked these guys. At one point in Justin's (vocals front man) furious frenzy to get it out he almost knocked the mic stand over but managed to keep it together and regain his footing. Their sound is noisy and the same time melodic and well articulated, almost shimmery at times keeping you tuned in with dynamic changes.
Every time I manage to get my butt out the door to see a live show I always come back reenergized by the experience. What can you say, a live performance is holy ground. It will always be a vulnerable thing to pitch yourself out into a room and share your art in real time and space regardless where the said performer may be on the scale from new beginner to seasoned pro.
I hope to make it out to the DAAC for one of the Breathe Owl Breathe shows this week end. Maybe I'll see you there.
