Yesterday I did not work in the studio but went fishing with my two youngest daughters Grace and Rain instead. We used a borrowed car to drive out to a cluster of old gravel pits out on the edge of town. After a few hours we had filled up our bucket with sunfish and blue gills. There was a lot of tangled line and bug bites but it was also a lot of fun.
We came home, had some lunch and I went to the carriage house loft for a nap. I returned to the studio but I had this sense that I was supposed to just sit still and rest in God's presence which I did. I don't hear an audible voice of God but rather a whisper of a thought that is persistent. It is best when I heed this whisper. After about an hour of this my oldest daughter Rose came in really needing someone to talk to and there I was completely settled and ready to listen. I am so glad that I was available and ready for that opportunity.
My wife and I have come to call these divine appointments. We do make plans but they are always ready to giveaway to what ever God has planned and that has made our life infinitely more interesting.
