The Wealthy Orphans played their show at the Pyramid Scheme last Thursday night. We had a really good time. It is a cool venue with a excellent sound system with a very capable sound man running it. The place wasn't full but there were enough people there having a good time to make it work.
It is a powerful experience to be playing music with a group of friends and in the middle of all that sound coming together just right. It is a situation where you realize in a profound way that the you are in the midst of something much bigger and richer than you could ever create yourself and that your success or failure is tightly woven together with your other band mates.
Between our sound check and our performance we headed over to Sanchez for dinner. The resteraunt was packed with from the Art Prize crowds but we were eventually seated. Sanchez is a Spanish resuraunt that serves tapas which are small portions that are meant to be passed back and forth. Michael kept ordering for us so we had all these rich and tasty dishes to pass around while we talked and relaxed together. It was a great interlude with in a memorable evening.
