We have been going down to the Fulton Street Artisan Market every Sunday of the summer to connect with our local community. We bring the Wonder Wagon down and set up our booth for the day. We are there from 10AM to 3PM and get to meet all kinds of interesting people and share our art with them.
Some walk right by like we are invisible while some walk by with tentative glances our way. Still others stop and look carefully through everything including a visit into the Wonder Wagon. Of course it is particularly encouraging when someone decides to part with their hard earned money and go home with something we have made.
The photo above was taken by Rex Larson for the Grand Rapids Press a few weeks ago. It is our youngest, Rain Beerhorst looking through the window of the little dollhouse we bring with us for the little children who tend to get fidgety and want to tug their parents on to something more interesting like the lady who sells cup cakes. It is Rain's job to set the doll house up with all it's little furnishings and characters. She usually heads back home with her mother after awhile while Rose and I tend the booths 'till the rest of the family comes to help us break it all down and pull the Wonder Wagon back home for another week of rest in the drive way.
If you don't live in our city you can visit our booth via our Etsy shops. Otherwise come and down and visit us for one of the four Sundays left in the season. See you there!
