We all have limitations that we struggle against. These limits define us as well as gives us something to push up against. Limitations are a natural part of our physical and spiritual existence and yet we can feel so frustrated and angry when we are yanked back by the end of our leash.
Cinderella had until 12:00 midnight to enjoy her dance with the prince. Christopher Reeve had his broken spine and wheel chair. Joan of arc was an illiterate teenage girl put in charge of the entire French army. Gerald Ford couldn't stop knocking his head into things.
There are things about my life that seem to keep me from reaching the heights of the people I most admire and it leaves me feeling dumpy and sad. And yet when I think more deeply about these limitations that I buck against, I realize they are making me who I am.
