Pearl Beerhorst made this film last year when Brenda and I worked Live Coverage at UICA together. Live coverage is the biggest fund raiser of the year. It brings out a lot of local artist to make work on the spot in a group environment. Making art while people watch is performance. It is a very different vibe than being alone in your studio making work. I find that I work differently and create a different kind of work which in itself is pretty interesting.
Live Coverage is happening again today and Brenda and I are going to be working on a painting together again. We will be using paint and combining it with hand pulled wood cuts and old pieces of paper from our vast collection of cool ephemera to create an orginal piece together. It will be a true artist collaboration you will not want to miss.
It happens today at the Steelcase Town Hall in Kentwood from 6:30-11:00PM, general admission is $75, $65 for UICA members. I know that may sound like a lot of money to get in but remember these resources go to a vital orginization that is all about keeping innovation and creativity embeded in our local culture. In other words this will be money well spent.
