I think death is the constant reminder that our time here is brief and we cant afford to waste it on things that we don't care about. We cannot spend time doing things that either hurt ourself or others. We must learn to think in the short term - and the long term. We absolutely need regular quiet time to asses what we are doing with our life and make sure it lines up with the deepest passions of our heart. It may be possible that you are reading this and you realize you don't even know what you are passionate about. If this is the case I suggest you drop everything and go off alone somewhere beyond constant distraction and find out what is in your heart. Nothing could be more important that this self knowledge. Your whole life depends upon it.
