This photo became the invitation card to our show that just went up at North Western University in Chicago. I just got back last night from setting up the show there. It is a group show with three other artists. We were given a 8' x12' wall to create an installation of work done by our family. All eight of us are represented in this instalation. We just took down a similar show that we did here in Grand Rapids at Christian High. It is an interesting experience to take what we do with in a very warm domestic environment and bring that into a gallery space which is more of an institution and has such a different vibe. It begins to change the way you see the work. It helps you step away and see with a little more objectivity.
A family creating work together and showing in a professional gallery is something I think is rather uncommon and even a little bizaar. I am encouraged that we are having opprotunities like this and look forward to how we can continue to grow and develope our artistic vision as a family.
