Go Ahead And Let It Be Crummy For Awhile

"Some times progress is not reflected in quality" Paul Williams (at 19 yrs old writing for Crawdaddy! in 1967 about Jefferson Airplanes 2nd record.)
I really love this quote because it reminds me of how often we stay stuck as creatives because we don't want to do things poorly. We want to stick with what we do well but to make progress we have to do things shitty for awhile. There is just no other way for any of us.
We are so inundated with near perfection in what we hear and see coming through the media as well as the sparkly clean web sites we visit that we forget all progress comes with messes and crooked mixed upness.
Our band The Wealthy Orphans had struggles and disagreements with the new CD Little Piece Of The Pie but were able to push through. Even though it was hard and awkward at times, working in new people mid way through the recording process, we got the project finished and out. It can be hard and confusing to do things differently but this is always the way when we are in a new territory.
Try something new and let it be crummy for awhile. You are in new territory and we all need you to do this so we will have the courage to do it as well.
