The Morning After The Big Show

The Wonder Wagon provides a unique mini mobile gallery viewing experience.

Our Beerhorst Family Spring Art Show is now over and today we will put the house back to normal. We had a great show this past weekend.  Thanks to all the lovely people who made it out - and thanks to all of our friends on-line who took peeks in through Facebook and Flickr.  It is always a tremendous experience to be able to share our home and work with you in this way.  We are deeply appreciative.

This collaboritive painting by Brenda and I went to a wonderful family right here in the neighborhood.

This is the Downs Family who drove in from Chicago (which is a 3-31/2 hour drive one way) to see the show for themselves.  What a wonderful family with well behaved kids.  City kids, who had fun with our backyard farm animals.

Dove's cookies were a big hit with our hungry visitors with sweet tooth. This is one of the new little oil paintings hanging in the dinning room gallery. Here is Rain in front of one of Brenda's new paintings.

Wild At Heart

The other day we found this temporary structure that was built in the woods beside one of our favorite local parks.  We came back to take a few pictures.  It is a large construction and well built with out the use of nails or any visible lashings.  The whole thing seems to just be stacked and woven out of fallen trees and branches that had been lying about the woods.

I really love that we can have these undeveloped chunks of land with in the city where things can feel a little wild and uncultivated.  I find myself renewed by visiting these kind of wild patches when I go for walks in the neighborhood.  It is as if some wild aspect of my self is affirmed by these places, a place that wants to just remain untamed and natural.
