This is video capture by Brad Yarhouse is a from a performance I did when the Beerhorst Family had just moved back from Brooklyn and I had been playing coffee houses there as a solo performer. I came back and put together the Rick Beerhorst Trio with Brad Hartness on stand up bass and Brian Smolinski on percussion and later replaced by Hugo Claudin.
An interesting side note to this film clip is at the end as the camera takes in the audience he settles in on Brenda and her good friend Lilly Lipke at a table in the back. You need to know two things about why this is significant and they are as follows. The night Brenda and I met in 1985 at the Intersection bar here in Grand Rapids, she was out with Lilly that night and from then on Lilly continued to orbit our lives for the next twenty two years. The other thing is that Lilly decided to take her own life in 2007 and this night recorded here and that fuzzy short two seconds is the only motion picture we have of our dear friend. Here is to you Lilly, we love you and miss you very much.
