When I began college I chose architecture to be my major. Somewhere in my sophomore year I ended up stuck on the sandbar of advance mathematics and physics and decided to jump ship and swim to over to the art department where I could work with my hands and become a kid again.I felt completely at home making art and I never turned back and yet the spirit of an architect lives on in my art and deep inner longings.
I want to participate in building my own home town of Grand Rapids into the city that it wants to be --one drawing at time. The places where we work, the places where we cook, eat, sleep and play with our children, they need to be beautiful spaces. The dwellings where we live need to enable us to reach our greatest potential. We need to be able to invite our friends into our homes and go visit them, where they are, living out their lives. Lets take this winter to rediscover what it means to be living in the city. Lets do what we can to make our dwellings more beautiful and livable. What are your ideas?
