I looked up the word Wise this morning and found that the radical root within this word is to reach or to hold, from extension, stretching. I find this very interesting. I often feel that when I am making art of any kind it has the same sort of feeling, stretching out to touch or hold something just out of reach.
I believe that regular creative activity leads to wisdom and that though artist caricature is a air head fool this is not at all the case. Learning to draw is learning to see. Learning to write dialogue is learning to listen, learning to dance is about being "in your body" and developing a vocabulary of movement. The natural carry over of all these artistic disciplines is a disciplined mind and the wisdom to know what goes where and when.
