We ordered the The Annotated Brothers Grimm edited by Mariea Tatar last month. It is a beautifully illustrated version of the collected stories that were written down through the middle of the 19th Century by the German brothers, who together had an over the top love for collecting folk-tales. When we finished The Bound Girl of Cobble Hill, this book took it's place - to send the girls off to dreamland fully equipped with magical imagery and stern warnings.
The photo above was directed and shot by Sister Pearl. The little girls put up with standing outside barefoot on damp straw for Milk-duds and Sugar-babies that Brenda bought back from the grocery store later that afternoon.
Now that the Bridge-card has run it's course, we have no other option than to lead them off into the woods later this week, to fend for themselves. There are just too many mouths to feed as our family stumbles through this tuckered out Michigan economy. (not really.)
