This is a collection of paintings that I have tucked into one of my Pinterest boards. These are a few of the painters who make me want to continue my own artistic journey. I am both humbled by their achievements and inspired. As creatives we simply must find a way to build our nest. No one creates good art in a vacuum. We respond to what others create and what move us in the natural world.
We have a doe rabbit in her hutch right now who has just given birth to a new litter of six little bunnies. After the date she went on with her buck we had about a month long wait for her special day of delivery. About a week before she birthed her litter she began to do what we call, "pull fur". The mother rabbit does this in preparation to giving birth. She tugs out tufts of fur to line her nest. This makes the nest a soft cozy place to drop in her little ones.
Artists do something similar in our studios when we collect together intrusting objects, that odd chair picked up a the flea market, the post cards from the last museum visit, the old chipped bowl filled with pine cones.... what ever it is that we use to line our nest. We need to make the places where we create reflect back to us who we are and what makes our heart beat a little faster. We must make an environment where art making becomes a natural follow through to living our lives.
