Brenda, Pearl and I walked over to our neighborhood theater last Wednesday and say the film Dirt. There was a panel discussion afterward by some local experts on local food and farming. The message of the film has to do with how our very life is intricately linked to the soil of the earth where we live. It also communicated the painful truth of how compromised this connection has become and how mistreated our soil is and the risks this brings to our very survival.
The film has spurred some excellent dialogue in our family as well as renewing our desire to create a sustainable life style right here in our city - in our home and micro urban farm. It was so nice to not need a car for our movie experience this week. We walked. The weather was spring like and fresh and it is always nice to be able to walk and talk.
