We have been unschooling our six children from the beginning up until now. It has not always been a smooth road. Sometimes it feels glorious and other times it feels more like a ship wreck. There is always a extra challenge at this time of year when their friends go off to school and our children stay home. Once again Brenda and I are forced to re examine the what and why of our family life together and honestly consider what is working and what is not and then what to do about it.
This is healthy by the way. I think the only place cruise control works is in our cars. Marriages, businesses, churches, family life and Harley-Davidsons are all in need of regular maintenance. Complete certainty is reserved for the kind of people that no ones wants to be with. If there is a bottom line here it is that our children are the most valuable asset we have and weaving them into our day to day lives remains to be the best thing we can do. Our family is not every family. We all have our own lives to live and if we can find a way to sink deeper into who we are regardless of wether it makes sense to every one else we have a chance at living our lives with a thicker bandwidth and a higher frequency. Think radio before Clear Channel.
