Being a Failure Lab speaker last Spring was a very powerful experience that has continued to linger with me. The evening consisted of five different speakers sharing a big life failure with out a neat tie up at the end about the lesson learned. Each speaker shared their gut wrenching story and left with the broken shards of their personal break down littering the stage. A solo performer with a soulful dance or song came out next to sweep the stage clear for the next speaker.
As I prepared what I was going to share that night I was forced to re examine my family's failed move to NYC. I got to take a slow walk through my failure and consider what we had done and what we could have done differently. It makes me wonder how often I really take an honest look at break downs and learn from them.
