"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings." Proverbs 25:2
To wonder about things is good. To be curious and ask questions is what makes a person wise. A longing to understand, the desire to go beneath the surface of a behavior or a symptom leads into a more meaningful life.
Blogging?, "It's stupid to write for no money. It's setting a precedent." says Erica Jong in this months issue of Elle. I was taken back when I read this and I asked myself, "could there be another reward for writing a blog"? The answer could be a love of inquiry. I believe that the regular writing of this blog helps me understand who I am and what my work must be. Writing this blog helps me tune in.
I am on a long trip in the car and I am using the radio to keep myself company. I am listening to a radio station that was coming in clear a while ago but then I begin to lose the signal. I fiddle with the knob and the station comes back in a little better and then I lose it to even more static and another station that begins to bleed in. Life is much like this. Things are going fine it seems, and then it begins to break up and you lose the signal. Maybe your antenna was broken off the last time you went through the car wash. Maybe it would be better to just turn the radio off, sit in silence, feel lonely and let the questions come.
