I made an apple pie for my family yesterday morning. We ate the pie at dinner. The apples I used had all come from three different trees in our neighborhood that have not been properly tended or harvested for many, many years. These trees have been forgotten and for the most part ignored and yet every fall they make their beautiful tasty fruit and it drops to the ground to rot.
This strikes me as a great tragedy. These trees make me think of those aspects of our selves that remained unrealized, uncultivated and ultimately wasted. With this metaphor I ask you to take time for an honest look at you're life this week. See what part of you has been forgotten. Is there potential that is not being realized? Are there branches that need to be pruned away? Maybe there are some tools you need to buy. Maybe there is a class you need to take, a relationship to restart, or an instrument too long in the case that wants to be in your hands again. I encourage you to have a tastier life and let it begin now.
