"Folding the sheet depicts an enigmatic narrative that allows room for interpretation. The industrial backdrop is evidence of Beerhorst's experience living through the past two decades of Americas industrial decline and loss of manufacturing, but the simple domestic ritual of folding laundry suggests that beauty may still reside in simple domestic tasks." Cindy Buckner, Associate Curator at the Grand Rapids Art Museum
This painting is on temporary loan to the Grand Rapids Art Museum and is currently hanging in the midst of their permanent collection. The way the museum chose to create a context for this painting in the gallery with the pieces that were chosen hang to either side makes the experience of viewing this piece more meaningful and spectacular than I could have imagined or hoped for.
