This is a painting by Steven Cambell. He was from Galsgow Scottland and was an influence on me when I was a young painter. Cambell just passed away in 2007. He was the son of a steel worker and a steel worker himself before plunging into his art full time.
This is a painting by ther Brittish painter Stanley Spencer. I first stumbled into his work at the Strand book store when I was living in NYC in the early 80s. I bought the book and took it back to my apartment and was completely transfixed by his odd very personal painting style. I was also taken with the warm cozy feelings that his paintings brought to me. Spencer lived from 1891-1959.
