Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one's potential. -Bruce Lee
I saw Oz The Great and Powerful last night. Besides being overwhelmingly beautiful to watch, there were a few really good lines delivered by Glinda the good witch played by Michelle Williams. The character Oz played by James Franco is a man trapped in his low estimation of himself. He sees himself as a selfish huckster, carnival con man which he of course is but Glinda sees a whole lot more inside of him wanting to come out. It is in this spirit that she says at one point, "You are capable of more than you know" that if felt the words come out of the Imax 3d movie screen and into my heart.
I'll be your mirror by the Velvet Underground is one of my favorites for the reminder that it often takes some one other than ourself to see that great potential just under the crust of our daily flops and failures. We all need a Glinda the good witch from time to time in order to wake up the sleeping great wizard inside of us.
