This drawing is one of a couple I have been working on this week. Before I begin a new painting I spend time drawing which is the way I allow my ideas to formulate. There is something about making marks across the surface of a piece of paper that brings images slowly to the surface to present themselves.
This is not an easy process especially difficult to begin for at the early stage of drawing everything feels so awkward and looks so pathetic. However as I force my self to continue slowly and surely something elegant and mysterious may emerge that will appreciate and love. These drawings that come to life, like John the Baptist clearing a path for the Christ, the drawing opens the way for a painting to come into existence.
