I have been thinking lately about what makes something holy. I have a small plastic container with a lid that screws on and off, the kind of thing you would put a small portion of left overs in and it is filled with holy water. It was given to me by a friend to use in my house. Sometimes I unscrew the lid and put some fingers in and fling the water in little droplets around the house early in the morning when no one can see the weird thing I'm doing.
I think that we make things holy when we set them apart for a special purpose. I can have a pile of drawings to sift through that encompass a three year span of time. I pull three out of the pile to have framed and put the rest back into the flat file. By my selection I have made these three drawings holy for they are now set apart for a special purpose.
I ask God to make me holy as I type these words. I ask God to make you holy as you read them. May we both be set apart to be used for a divine purpose that is meaningful and some how brings more beauty into the world.
