The phonograph has become an important image for me over the past few years. When I was about six years old I remember spending a good portion of a Saturday afternoon with a friend listening to a batch of 45s that my dad had brought home from work. They were all recent radio hits and we kept putting them on one after another and I snapped my fingers until I had blisters. This was the first time the power of art was revealed to me and I was changed for ever.
Understanding symbols is important because they carry significant meaning that helps us understand our life better. When we wake up from a powerful dream and we begin to retell the dream to our friend the next day wouldn't it be wonderful if they could interpret the dream for us and reveal its hidden meaning in a way that unlocked something with us? Taking the time to reflect on what images are important to us and why can be very helpful towards knowing who we are and what our needs may be at any given time. Self knowledge is everything.
