The painting above is from an illuminated manuscript dating from around 1400 and was done by an now forgotten artist. I love this image and used it as a model for one of my own self portraits a couple years ago. The experience of looking into the mirror and recording your own image is related to the process of being honest with who you are right now, with being yourself. To truly accept who you are may naturally extend to giving permission to the people in your life to be who they are.
The mirror does not lie. It show us exactly what is and yet there is forever something mysterious about looking into a mirror because it creates an identical world to ours but one we have no way of entering into.
