Every man carries within him the eternal image of woman, not the image of this or that particular woman, but a definitive feminine image. This image is fundamentally unconscious, an hereditary factor of primordial origin engraved in the living organic system of the man, and imprint or 'archetype' of all the ancestral experiences of the female, a deposit, as it were, of all the impressions ever made by woman... Since this image is unconscious, it is always unconsciously projected upon the person of the beloved, and is one of the chief reasons for passionate attraction or aversion. -Carl Jung, pg 379, Memories, Dreams, Reflections 1961
I was coming back from drawing session outside the other day and on my way back I found myself looking down into the Grand River. I was not riding my bike at this point but walking slowly staring down into the cold current of the river going under the bridge. Whenever I am near a river or a pond or even a large puddle I always find myself search for some sign of life below the surface. I have had many dreams along these lines as well. Once in my dream I came downstairs into the dining room and looking through the french doors I noticed our little pond had grown to take over the entire back yard. There were all kinds of fish that could be seen swimming around including a large whale frolicking like it was having the time of its life.
